Who Is God Anyway?

In Sunday School this week, we talked about who God is. He is many, many things! He is whatever we need when we need it. We all have different perspectives of who He is to us personally, and that perception in one way or another will effect our relationship with Him. How do you view God, and how does that effect YOUR relationship with Him?

Key Verses

Romans11:33-36   33 Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! 34 “Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?” 35 “Who has ever given to God, that God should repay them?” 36 For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.

Romans 12:1-2    Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Core Beliefs Challenge Week 3

This weeks topics were Christ's Death and Ressurection, and Christ's Bodily Ascension.

Key Verses

1 Corinthians 15:14   And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith.

Romans 4:25   He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.

John 14:2-3   2 In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.

1 Thessalonians 4: 13-18   13 Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. 14 We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 15 According to the Lord’s own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore encourage each other with these words.

Growing Deeper

This week in Sunday School we talked about spiritual growth. We can grow spiritually by reading our Bible and praying, and also through the community of fellow believers always being more and more perfected to become like Jesus.

Key Verses

Luke 2:52 And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.
Ephesians 4:14-15 14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. 15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ.
Peter 2:2 Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation
2 Peter 3:18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.

No Place to Call Home

Key Verses

  • Matthew 8:2-3 2 A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” 3 Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy.
  • Proverbs 14:21  It is a sin to despise one’s neighbor, but blessed is the one who is kind to the needy.
  • Proverbs 14:31 Whoever oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God.
  • Proverbs 29:7 The righteous care about justice for the poor, but the wicked have no such concern.
